Guided tour to rediscover the Theatre
On 28th December 2017 the Association of Tourist Guides “Eolie Messina Taormina”, in collaboration with the “Ente Teatro Vittorio Emanuele”, is planning a whole day of guided tour of the Theatre of Messina named “Guida all’inedito. Viaggio alla scoperta del Teatro di Messina” (Guide of the unknown. A voyage to rediscover the Theatre of Messina).
Especially relevant is that the event takes place on the occasion of the anniversary of the terrible earthquake, which destroyed the city of Messina in 1908.
But during the earthquake the building of the theatre wasn’t entirely destroyed, due this the monument became such a symbol for the restoration of Messina.
Then the Association proposes many guided tours of the Theatre, in order to celebrate this day. Visitors can also appreciate the building both from an architectural and cultural point of view.
For this reason from 11.00 a.m. the tourist guides are leading visitors inside the theatre: from the orchestra to the foyer and then to the terrace. So the tourist guides let visitors rediscover the architectural style and the interesting aspects linked to its story.
Furthermore this occasion is a new viewpoint for citizens and tourists, in order to rediscover some secrets behind the curtain of one of the most important monuments in Messina.
Most of all an interesting tour is planned, because visitors can learn what happens behind the wings of a theatre stage, and also something more about the art collection housed inside the theatre, such as archaeological objects and contemporary art paintings.
Finally the painter Renato Guttuso is included with his painting “Colapesce”, a spectator that has been witnessing all the theatrical performances in Messina since 1985.
How to book your visit
First of all you can reserve your visit only booking in advance.
The guided tours are planned on 28th December 2017 at:
- 11.00 a.m.
- 3.00 p.m.
- 4.30 p.m.
- 6.00 p.m.
The price is Euro 5,00 p.p. for adults, Euro 2,00 p.p. for people from 12 to 18 years old. While the guided tour is free for children under 12 years old.
