Etna

No one who comes in Sicily can miss the chance to visit Mount Etna, the highest active volcano of the European continent. First of all,with its more than 3300 meters of height it towers over all the east side of the island. Included in the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites from 2013, because this volcano provides a habitat unique in the world, which never stops to fascinate writers, travellers, scientist and visitors.

mountain of fire, as the Arabs called it, offers landscapes of incomparable beauty and colours that fill the eyes:

  •  its summit is white covered with snow in winter;
  • the green of its woods;

Here all the cosmos elements meet: fire, earth, air, water, and the majestic and worrying show of an eruption contrast with the sense of serenity given by its green and lush woods.

The flora and the fauna present on its flanks offer an incredible variety of different species.

Numerous nature paths let the trekking lovers, and not only, to cross the different landscapes of the mountain:

  • rich and luxuriant vegetation;
  • the deserted areas where lava and volcanic ash do not permit the presence of flora o animals.
