A village to visit: Roccavaldina
This old village is located on the Tyrrhenian part of the Peloritani mountains. But it is included in the project named “Visita Roccavaldina”. A nonbinding agreement has been made by the municipality, the association P.A.N Travel Solution srls and the association of tourist guides Guide Turistiche Taormina Messina Eolie.
The guides lead you on a tour on Sundays at 11.00, booking in advance. So you can discover the small village Roccavaldina which is a really hidden treasure rich in history, art and tradition.
The village offers a typical Sicilian mood: alleys and amazing landscapes. Then, an interesting history is due to its strategic position from trade to military reasons. But its tradition is very old too, for instance the festival called Convito mixes Christian and Pagan elements.

- the Museum Pharmacy is extremely prestigious. It houses 238 decorated vases dating back to the XVI century. They were made in the workshop Patanazzi of Urbino and it is a rare collection in Italy! You are wonderstruck while admiring several albarelli, jugs and amphorae with their mythological, biblical and historical scenes.
- a Mother Church is consecrated to St. Nicholas, the patron saint. The church is on the upper side of the small town. It is decorated with many statues and paintings of the XVI – XVII centuries. A wooden baldachin with the painting of Our Lady of the Letter is at the centre.
- the ancient church Madonna della Catena overlooks the first ancient houses. In fact, here you can enjoy a stunning view on the northern coast of Sicily, that is the gulf of Milazzo, the promontory of Tindari and the Aeolian Islands.
